Would you like to hike Mount Rinjani more easily?
Sembalun provides the best choice for those of you who want to climb shorter and not waste excessive energy at the beginning of the climb so that you are more fresh and energetic when conquering the steep hill to Plawangan Sembalun and the peak of Rinjani.
We trekked Mount Rinjani, paying IDR 200,000 for a one-way Ojek (motorcycle taxi) service to Pos 2 Sembalun.
In compliance with government regulation No. 12 of 2014 on forest entry fees, the tour organizer in Sembalun offers a Rinjani trekking package, which includes an Ojek service from your hotel in Sembalun to your destination at Post 2.
One of the local communities that rely on tourism for their livelihoods on Mount Rinjani is climbing using motorcycle taxis. Additionally, the presence of motorcycle taxi services on Mount Rinjani significantly aids climbers by shortening the distance.
If you’re not a professional climber, this package is ideal for you. By hiring a motorcycle taxi, you won’t exhaust your energy too quickly at the start. This is because climbing Mount Rinjani requires a significant amount of physical strength. The Summit program on Rinjani requires a minimum of two days, while the Summit and Segara Anak Lake program requires three or four days.
The distance from the National Park Office, or registration site, to Post 2 Sembalun is 6 km. If you walk, it will take 2.5 to 3.5 hours to arrive at post 2. However, if you use an Ojek service, it only takes 40 minutes.
Then, from post two to the Plawangan Sembalun (summit campsite), the distance is only 4 km, and it takes a normal time to arrive at the field, about 4-5 hours. This is certainly very helpful, especially for those of you who do not want to spend energy at the beginning of the climb.
The price for a one-way motorcycle taxi service is Rp. 200,000, so if you take a two-day program or choose to go back down via the Semblaun route, the cost is Rp. 400,000.
The available motorcycle taxi drivers are local people who are very professional in carrying out their profession. The vehicle has undergone modifications to ensure passenger safety. We advise against solo driving due to the challenging nature of the road, particularly for those unfamiliar with it.
The path that leads to Post 2 is also in good condition and does not feature any ravines. Passengers, particularly those weighing more than the standard, may encounter challenging spots where they must walk, ensuring their personal safety.
